The New Americans Campaign (NAC) was inspired by the need to address some of the greatest concerns facing our community today and create lasting improvements that would lead to overcoming the major barriers to civic engagement in our state. The collaboration made up by Catholic Legal Services of Miami (CLS-Site Leader), Center for Immigrant Advancement (CIMA), Florida Asian Service Center (FASC), the Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), Hispanic Unity of Broward (HUF), the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and NALEO Educational Fund (NALEO), all work for the full integration of immigrants in the social, cultural and economic sphere of our state and local community by helping them to become US citizens. We do this through free naturalization application assistance, citizenship classes, and other services. As members of the NAC, on Citizenship Days, we help Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) not only to become US Citizens but also offer them volunteer opportunities to help others on their path to citizenship. Ultimately, US citizens are able to fully participate in our nation’s civil society by exercising their right to vote.
If you’re a business, talk about how you started and share your professional journey. Explain your core values, your commitment to customers, and how you stand out from the crowd. Add a photo, gallery, or video for even more engagement.
Through a multitude of outreach services, we each serve the entire immigrant community and offer resources to the often invisible members of our community – those who still live below the poverty line, refugees, those with limited English proficiency, and the elderly. In this respect, we already have a proven track record of success. Since its inception in 2011, in Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Broward counties, our Miami NAC has:
Saved $9,000,000 for clients through free immigration services at our group processing events;
Provided volunteer and organizational training to over 2860 volunteers
Provided assistance, orientation, and/or study materials to more than 9000 South Floridians
On June 22nd, 2013 alone we assisted over 2,000 legal permanent residents
Organizationally, each of the NAC partners is committed to creating a vibrant culture of civic engagement and volunteerism. Helping an under-served portion of the community creates a more inclusive and diverse Florida.
